Designed by and for fourth-grade teachers and students in our eight-county Southwest Colorado region and two Ute Reservations, this extraordinary pocket-sized guide, modeled after a travel passport, will enable you and your children, or grandchildren, to travel to places that will bring our history and heritage to vibrant life.

Passports permit entry to places that expand our understanding of the world.  This guide transports and introduces our children to places closer to home, but that are just as fascinating as international destinations.  Even better, this interactive passport contains puzzles, activities, fun facts, and coloring opportunities that children will enjoy and learn from.  When we visit other countries, stamps trace our travels and adventures.  The print edition of the passport contains stickers so that children can place stickers in the places they have been.  See how many places—many of them lesser known but fascinating--you and your family can visit.  Use this passport to travel and learn together as a family, creating wonderful memories.

The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad is the exclusive sponsor of the Colorado 150 Southwest Passport Program.  The Passport to Southwest Colorado, produced in both print and online versions, will be available in the spring of 2025 and will also be available online.  Content is targeted to students in our region, encouraging them to visit, with their parents, the sites, places, and events that reflect Southwest Colorado’s rich history and cultural heritage.  Thank you, DS&NG, for your generous support!  For more information on the railroad and its fascinating museum.
